I hate the treadmill!

It’s a never-ending walk to nowhere. Pointless! A journey with no destination. I love to do cardio outside though. To smell nature. See the grass and trees. Get startled by a wandering deer and live to laugh about it. Identifying landmarks along the way as measurements of progress. Recently, I’ve been tackling a project that feels like I’m running a marathon on the dreaded treadmill. A journey that’s been littered with pseudo breakdowns and grown-up temper tantrums. One that no matter how hard I press the pace just wont change. I live in a microwave society. A society where I can wish upon an app and goodies fall from the sky; in blue and white bubble wrapped packages. To say that I’m impatient and like results now is an understatement.
So, what does one do when the journey is extended and uneventful? Remember! Recall those processes you’ve traveled through before. Remember how amazing past victories felt. Remember how long college nights paid off. Remember the long hikes where you threatened to never return. Only to get up and do it again. Remember crossing the finish line of your first 5k. Remember how the long pregnancy and hard labor were overshadowed by the beautiful bundle of joy. Remember from whence you came and know that this time will be no different. Encourage yourself and keep moving.

To the person reading this who feels like they’ll never see the light at the end of the tunnel, remember this to shall pass. Success is measured by the journey not the destination.
This I recall to my mind,
Therefore I have hope.
Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:21-23
Prayer
Lord today I just want to thank you for the journey
For the chance to overcome self
For the opportunity for patience to be cultivated in my life
Amen
